Hey everyone! I work from home and have a really demanding job where I play poker on 12 to 15 tables at once, using multiple clients and a table manager. Some of these clients are poorly optimized and can hog a lot of resources, which makes me worried about lag affecting my performance and potentially costing me money.
I've had my current PC for about 8 years, and here are my specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5 9400f
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 at 1332MHz
- Motherboard: ASRock H310CM-HDV
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super
- Storage: 447GB Adata SU630
I'm contemplating two options: either take it to a shop for some cleaning and minor upgrades, or do a more extensive overhaul by getting a new motherboard, CPU, cooling, and RAM but keeping the case and GPU since I don't game much. I mainly want to ensure everything runs smoothly across my two monitors: a 43'' 4k and a 34'' QWHD.
My budget is between 1,000 and 2,000 euros – spending over 2,000 feels excessive. I was considering a Ryzen 9 9950X, a compatible B650 motherboard, 32GB of 6000 MHz RAM, and some appropriate cooling. I haven't done too much digging into parts yet, so I'd really appreciate any suggestions or recommendations! Thanks!

For your situation, I definitely recommend going with the Ryzen 9 9950X or even the 7950X if your budget allows. The extra cores are really going to help, especially with all those poker clients running simultaneously. As for RAM, going up to 32GB is a smart move, and I'd suggest getting 2x16GB sticks for future upgradeability to 64GB. Don't overpay for the motherboard—just make sure it has what you need and room for 4 RAM slots.
Also, your GTX 1660 should handle your monitors without a hitch, but check that it supports their resolutions, just in case! Good luck with the upgrade!
