Upgrading to a New CPU: What Cooler Should I Get?

I recently upgraded my CPU to an i7-14700f, but I'm still using my old cooler from my previous i5-14400f setup, and it's not cutting it. The temperatures are already hitting 80°C with just a game menu open, which seems way too high. I'm looking for a new cooler that's compatible with my Lenovo T5, which has LGA 1700 sockets. I'm a bit lost on what options are out there, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

You mentioned temps are high; did you reapply the thermal paste after installing the new CPU? That can affect performance significantly! Sometimes it might not be working as well as it should if the paste wasn't applied correctly.

Yeah, I applied new thermal paste! I might have exaggerated, it’s working, just not as good as I hoped!

If you’re looking for recommendations, the Peerless Assassin is a solid choice. Just double-check its dimensions to make sure the fan can fit without hanging over anything critical like your graphics card.

Thanks! I’ll definitely check that out!

Hey! So, before you decide on a cooler, could you share what cooler you're currently using? And what were the temps like with the old CPU? It’ll help us figure out if you really need an upgrade. Also, even just sitting on a menu at 80°C sounds pretty high; a good cooler might make a big difference!

I had the same issue when I swapped my CPU. I went from an i5 to an i7 and the stock cooler couldn’t handle it. You might want to consider a beefy cooler for sure!
