Upgrading to AM5 with a New GPU—What Should I Choose?

Hey everyone! I just got a Gigabyte 5070 ti as a Christmas gift and I'm planning to upgrade my setup to the AM5 platform. I'm hoping to reuse some parts like my Corsair RM750x 80 Plus Gold PSU, a WD SN770 m.2 SSD, a boot drive, and a be quiet! Pure Rock 2 CPU fan. I aim to play games at 1440p 144hz with two monitors connected (one via DisplayPort and the other via HDMI). I'd appreciate any recommendations for a CPU, motherboard, and RAM that would fit well with this new build. Thanks for your help!

If you're sensitive to budget, look into getting a 9600 or a 9700 CPU with a B850 motherboard. Aim for the best 2x16GB RAM you can afford, ideally at 6000 and CL30 timings. Your PSU is decent, but since the 5070 ti recommends a minimum of 850 watts, you might want to consider upgrading to something with a bit more headroom. Good luck with the GPU you got!

You might want to stick with your AM4 setup if gaming is your only priority—especially until RAM prices go down. I’m waiting for AM6 myself. I've got a similar setup with a 750w PSU and it runs great with the 5070 ti. Just keep your expectations in check for now!

The 9700X is solid for both AAA and FPS games, but if you want a budget-friendly option, consider the 7500F. For motherboards, a B650 should work perfectly. As for RAM, grab whatever you find available!

Honestly, now might not be the best time to upgrade your RAM—it's really pricey right now, almost as much as the 5070 itself!

For your setup, I'd suggest going with a 9800X3D paired with a B850 motherboard from MSI, Gigabyte, or Asus—just steer clear of ASRock for now. Also, get 2x16GB of 6000 CL30 RAM if you can. It's going to be a bit of an investment, but it'll pay off!

I recently got a 9800X3D and a B650E-E motherboard. While the performance is awesome, I bought my RAM back in October before prices soared. If you can find a good bundle that includes RAM, it might be worth jumping on, although the new Intel CPUs that support DDR4 are looking tempting right now too!
