USB Drive Stopped Copying Movies and Now Windows Wants to Format It

I was in the middle of copying some movies to my USB drive when the process stopped halfway through, and now Windows is asking me to format the drive. The strange part is that I can still read the drive and play the movies that are on it. I suspect the last movie I tried to copy got corrupted somehow, but I can't delete that file either. When I attempt to format the drive, Windows tells me it can't do that. I'm at a loss about what to try next.

Did you buy that drive from a sketchy seller? Sometimes cheap drives end up being fake and have no real storage. Check out this link that explains how those drives can mess with your data.

Nah, it's a legit 512GB SanDisk drive.

There’s a reported bug in Windows 11 that’s been causing issues with drives, including corrupting data. You might want to look into that and see if it’s affecting your USB as well.

So this bug can mess with flash drives too? That's frustrating!
