I've been using Bazzite for about six months and while it's versatile, I'm getting frustrated with its closed system policy. Many of the programs I need, especially for virtual machines and game mods, either don't work right out of the box or are really hard to set up. I'm looking for recommendations for other Linux distributions that are more gaming-friendly and support Steam better than Bazzite.

Honestly, CachyOS is a solid option if you're considering a switch. Or, if you want something different, PopOS has a good reputation, especially for gaming without being overly specialized.
I had a great experience with Garuda Linux. It’s user-friendly and gaming-focused, perfect for a smooth Steam experience.
Check out Nobara; it's designed with gamers in mind and can be a great alternative to Bazzite.
KDE Neon has worked great for me with Steam. It plays well with a wide range of games and offers a smooth experience.
If you're familiar with Linux, I suggest trying Fedora with KDE. It's visually appealing and allows you to install anything you might need from Bazzite easily.
