What are the best mobile internet alternatives to using a phone hotspot?

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a more reliable mobile internet solution for my laptop than using my phone's hotspot. I rely on my laptop for work, and the current connection isn't cutting it. My phone's hotspot tends to slow down and sometimes doesn't even show up in my WiFi list unless I toggle it on and off. I have an employer-provided laptop, so I need to work within IT's parameters. I'm with Verizon and am open to paying for a better service. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

If you're okay with a more involved setup, consider a USB tether or even a separate 5G USB modem. That could give you better performance without the hassle of a second plan.

Check with your IT department to see if you can get a laptop with an integrated wireless modem. There are solid options like ThinkPads and Surfaces that might suit your needs, and your company may cover the cost.

Honestly, dedicated hotspots often offer similar speeds to your phone's hotspot since they're basically just stripped-down cell phones. You may not experience a massive improvement.

Have you thought about getting a dedicated 5G router? They come with antennas that can help boost your signal reliability. It's also worth looking into options like Starlink, especially if you need consistent service wherever you are.

For the best overall performance, I'd recommend looking into Starlink. It's a bit pricey, but I've heard great things about the service, especially in areas where cell signals are weak or unreliable.
