I'm curious about people's experiences with various AI-equipped gadgets like the Humane AI Pin, Rabbit R1, and Meta Ray-Ban glasses. Since many of these devices seemed to arrive too soon and faced failures in the *AI Smart Device* market, I'd love to hear your insights. If you've used any of these tools, how did they impact your day-to-day life?

I refunded my Meta Ray-Bans. They were inefficient, needing constant Bluetooth connection to my phone. I’d rather have something that runs locally without needing data to function. Fingers crossed Google is working on this!

I tried both the Rabbit R1 and the Humane AI Pin, and honestly? They feel more like tech demos than actual products. The Rabbit's "large action model" sounds great, but waiting 8 seconds for it to maybe order an Uber is frustrating. The Pin's laser-projected interface is fun for a bit, but it overheats and gives you battery anxiety. As for the Meta Ray-Bans, they're decent for music and calls, but asking complex questions feels like talking to a wall. Overall, we're still at the 'glorified party trick' stage—better to hold off until version 2 or 3 comes out.

That sums it up perfectly! These devices need more time to evolve.

I believe all this AI stuff, especially wearables, will eventually fail. I think smart glasses won’t catch on either. The future might be more about AI in robotic forms where we can have real conversations. Wearables just don't seem like they'll be widely adopted.

Plaud was a huge letdown for me. After a couple of weeks, I realized it just made my life more complicated. The idea sounded cool, but I found it frustrating to get it to work with calls, and when it did, the notes were often super off. Honestly, using voice capture with Whisper or AWS Transcribe ended up being less of a hassle and gave better results!

I had a similar experience with a project I almost launched! Glad I dodged that bullet.

I bought a Rabbit on pre-order and honestly, I’ve barely used it. It’s just easier to call up the ChatGPT app on my phone instead. Definitely paid too much for it!

I actually use Plaud daily, and it works great for meeting summaries! It’s perfect for keeping transcripts that are separate from my phone. I like that it doesn’t get interrupted by calls. This kind of targeted utility really meets my needs well.

I’ve had my Meta Ray-Bans for nearly two years. They’re solid but I’ve come to use them differently than I expected. Initially, I filmed everything! Now, I mainly wear them for walks, using them for audio instead of my AirPods. They’re great for keeping an ear out for my surroundings. I considered not getting prescription lenses because they’re a bit heavy, and the AI feature isn’t as necessary for me anymore. They’re a good product, just not as multifunctional as I thought they'd be.

Awesome take! It’s so true, products need to fit into our real lives.
