What Brands Should I Consider for My First PC Build?

I'm gearing up to build my first PC and I'm almost ready to lock in my choices. Here's what I've settled on so far: a GeForce 4060 for the graphics card, an Intel i5 or Ryzen 5 CPU, a Samsung 990 Pro SSD, 32GB of RAM, and a full-sized case. However, I'm unsure about which other components I should include and what brands I should avoid. There are so many options, and I've heard that a higher price doesn't always mean better quality. My primary use will be streaming through OBS from my console and playing some retro PC games, focusing on speedrunning at 1080p 60fps. Any advice would be appreciated!

I wouldn't call the 4060 a high-end card; it's more on the lower end of the spectrum. You might want to check out the RTX 5060, which could be around the same price or even cheaper. If you can, consider the 9060XT or 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM. As for brands, I usually recommend going for the cheapest option unless you have specific preferences. Most brands perform similarly, with the main difference being fan noise. Trust me, you'll want that extra VRAM for performance!

Totally get what you mean. When you say 'brands,' were you also thinking about things like motherboards, power supplies, and cooling fans?

Got it! Just to clarify, the 'higher end' was referring to the CPU choices, right? I did consider going for a better GPU at a similar price point since sticking with NVIDIA for their NVENC is a great idea for streaming.
