Hey everyone! I graduated recently and have been using my PC built back in 2020. It's got an AMD Ryzen 3 3100 with 4 cores and a GTX 1650, but I'm running into issues trying to play newer titles like Expedition 33 smoothly. I think it's time for an upgrade since the 1650 isn't cutting it anymore. My budget for a GPU is about $200-300 and for a CPU around $200-250. My motherboard is an AsuTek Prime A320M-k. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If I were you, I'd look into spending about $150 on a Ryzen 5800x for your CPU and then allocate around $400 for the GPU. Just make sure you have at least 32GB of RAM to maximize your performance. There are decent budget RAM kits going for about $40 without RGB and $60 for those with lighting if you're interested. Also, adding an SSD can really improve your system's responsiveness without breaking the bank!
I already have an SSD, did you mean I should add another one?
I'm also moving up from a GTX 1650 to an RX 6600, which doubles the performance for around $300 AUD (or about $200 USD). For the CPU, I'm looking at the Ryzen 5 8400F for $120 AUD, and upgrading my motherboard to a B-650M. I’ll stick with SSDs and just forego NVMe M.2 for now since storage prices are high. Another thing to consider is if you should go with AM5 for future-proofing, DDR5 is already quite affordable and might be a good investment.
That sounds good, it's definitely time for an upgrade. The GTX 1650 has served me well, but I’m ready for a change!
The upgrade path can be tricky with market fluctuations, but generally, a 5600x or 5800x paired with a 2070 would serve you well. It offers 8GB of VRAM and comes with DLSS4, which can really enhance your gaming experience.
Do you think this setup would be good enough for Expedition 33?
I currently have 16GB RAM. Does that change my upgrade options?
