What cable do I need for my Nikon Coolpix L1?

I recently snagged a Nikon Coolpix L1 from eBay, but it didn't come with the necessary cable to connect it to my laptop for photo transfers. I thought the port might be a USB mini, so I bought a USB mini B to USB cable, but it turns out the mini B connector is still too big. The port itself is rectangular on top and slightly rounded at the bottom, measuring less than a centimeter across at its widest point. Any ideas on what type of cable I actually need?

Your port resembles what they call a Micro A. You might want to check out the Nikon UC-E6 cable, which is specifically for that model. Here’s a link to one you could check out: [link].

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too! I’ll give that a try and see if it works.

It sounds like you might need a Micro USB cable instead. That’s what most modern devices use, but if it doesn’t fit, it could be something different.

I checked it out, and it really doesn’t look as flat or wide as a micro USB. Here’s a pic next to a USB mini B for comparison: [link]. Any other guesses?

Pretty sure it’s the Nikon UC-E6 as others have mentioned. However, I’d recommend getting a USB SD card reader instead for transferring your photos. The camera's software was only made for Windows XP, so your PC might not recognize it even with the right cable. Plus, card readers are super cheap and usually much faster!
