What Can I Do About Not Having Grounded Outlets for My PC?

I'm in a situation where my entire house lacks grounding outlets, and I'm really concerned about the safety of my gaming PC. I've had it for about six months, and considering it's my first good setup, I want to ensure it's protected. Some friends on Discord mentioned that using my PC on ungrounded outlets could be dangerous. I've been using a surge protector, but I know those need grounding, too. My parents don't think grounding is essential and it's not an easy fix since it would involve a complete rewiring of our electrical system. Are there any practical alternatives to ground my room or protect my PC without major renovations? Just to note, I live in Tunisia, and the local conditions might be different from other places.

If you're somewhat handy, you might be able to swap your wall outlet for one that has a ground connection, but only if there's already a ground wire in the junction box. First, make sure to turn off the breaker for that outlet before doing anything. But let's be real, if your house is older, there's a good chance those boxes don’t have grounds at all. So, a better bet would probably be to get a good-quality surge protector and use that to shield your PC from potential issues. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, checking for a ground wire is smart. I wouldn't mess around unless you're sure. A solid surge protector would be a great first line of defense.
