Hey everyone, I'm 15 and at a boarding school, and I've been using my dad's iPhone X for about three years. It's been through a lot—my LCD broke and I had to pay for a replacement. Recently, I dropped it, and now there are weird lines on the screen that aren't just the usual white ones. The real issue, though, is that after charging it, the phone only reaches 2% and then it just shuts down. It keeps looping between the Apple logo and my wallpaper, but won't actually turn on. Unfortunately, I can't just buy a new phone since my grades aren't great and my parents don't trust me with that. Any advice would be super helpful!

First off, try leaving it on charge for a bit longer before turning it on. Sometimes, it needs a good amount of time connected to revive. If it doesn’t work, there’s a chance it’s stuck in a boot loop. Since your phone’s an iPhone X, you can put it into recovery mode. Connect it to a computer and follow these steps: quickly press the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button, and finally press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen. Just make sure your computer recognizes it! That could help you out, if you can access a computer some time.
I’ve had a similar issue with an older phone in the past. Sometimes they get stuck in a power loop if the battery is drained too far. If you're not able to get into recovery mode, just keep it charging. It might take a while to build some charge back up. Also, if it’s really unresponsive, you can try a hard reset by quickly pressing the Volume Up, then Volume Down, followed by holding the Side button until the Apple logo appears. Give that a shot!
I appreciate the advice! But I actually don’t have access to any computers right now. Any other ideas?
