I recently obtained my KCNA certification and think that CKA might be the next logical step. I have about a year and a half of practical experience with Kubernetes, mainly focused on deploying applications using ArgoCD and GitLab. My question is: is pursuing the CKA exam the best move for my career? Or should I consider investing in cloud certifications instead? I'm looking for guidance on which option might better enhance my profile in the devops field. I have a solid background as a sysadmin and in observability, but I don't yet see myself as a specialist.

Have you thought about the TOEFL certification? A lot of jobs, especially in the US or Europe, value strong English skills, and it could set you apart in the competitive market. Just a thought!
I think CKA is definitely a worthwhile certification, but don't forget about putting real effort into practical experiences. They really matter when you're talking about interviews. Maybe also consider getting a cloud certification afterwards to round out your skills. A little bit of both could set you apart!
Thanks for the advice! I'm hoping to follow up with both CKA and an AWS cert later on. Seems like a solid plan!
It's great that you're considering your next steps! I think focusing on CKA is a solid choice, but remember, hands-on experience is key. While certifications can open doors, practical skills often shine through in interviews. You might want to look into building projects on platforms like DigitalOcean to sharpen your workflows. Adding a cloud certification like AWS or GCP could complement your Kubernetes skills later on too. Check out some resources like roadmap.sh for a better idea of what skills to focus on.
I totally agree! Balancing hands-on projects and certifications is the best way to grow. I'm planning to work on some cloud projects along with CKA too!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve done well on TOEFL, but it’s not a requirement for the positions I’m looking at. I'm more focused on technical skills right now.
