I'm looking to upgrade my current setup. I'm using a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with a recently acquired used RTX 4080 and 16 GB of 3600 MHz DDR4 RAM. Given the high prices of DDR5, I'm not switching to AM5. I'm considering either the Ryzen 7 5700X3D or the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but I can't find them for a decent price—I'm willing to spend around 250-260 EUR, but they seem to be priced at 300-350 EUR or more when used. I also noticed that the 5800XT and 5950X are available for under 300 EUR new. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the best upgrade path. I'm open to suggestions but would prefer to maximize my system now and possibly wait for AM6 if RAM prices settle down.

Honestly, unless you find a 5700X3D or 5800X3D at a good price, it might be best to stick with your 5600X. The 5700X doesn't provide much of a gaming boost and is only slightly better for some productivity tasks, so saving your cash and waiting could be wiser.
The 5800XT and 5600X have similar gaming performance, with the main difference being the added cores in the 5800XT for multitasking or apps that utilize them. If you want a CPU that can keep pace with your 4080, go for either the 5700X3D or the 5800X3D, if you can find the latter at a reasonable price. For most games, the performance difference from the 5600X is minimal, and the 5700X3D usually offers better value. Hope this helps!
The cache advantages of the 5700X3D and 5800X3D are nice, but they just aren't worth the high prices right now. I read somewhere that AMD might release more options soon, so it might be worth waiting it out.
I'd lean towards the 5950X. It excels in both gaming and video editing, which should help in the future if you're thinking of marketing your PC as a video editing rig. You'll lose a bit of FPS in some games compared to the 5800X3D, but not by much overall.
I like where your head's at! If I do sell my setup, I'll likely market the mobo, RAM, and CPU together while keeping the 4080 long-term.
Have you thought about the 5900X? It could be an option for you, but it may not provide the best value compared to what you're already considering.
Yeah, I've looked at it, but it seems like the value isn't there for my needs.

Great advice! I'm in a similar boat with my 5600X and noticed the high prices for the 5700X3D too. I'm thinking of holding off until prices drop.
