What does this F1 error mean on my HP computer?

I've been using my HP computer for gaming and day-to-day tasks, but lately, I've been getting a weird F1 error screen. When I hit F1, it shows a warning from the BIOS that says there's an issue with the SMART detection and that my hard drive is failing. It also suggests I back up my data and run a self-test. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm confused about what this all means and what I should do next. Any insights?

That error means your hard drive is likely on its last legs. It's crucial to back up any important files as soon as possible, preferably using a USB drive. If your computer is worth repairing, you'll need to get a replacement SSD because the current one is failing.

Wow, your hard drive lasted 12 years! That's impressive. But after that long, it's no surprise it's showing signs of failure. Make sure you backup your important documents now, either to a thumb drive or a cloud service. Replacing the hard drive isn't too difficult and can be done at a reasonable cost, especially if you upgrade to an SSD for better speed.

I thought it was in great shape too; I'm surprised it’s failing! Guess it's time to upgrade.

Your hard drive is failing, and you need to back up your files. Make sure to copy everything from your user folder first. After that, get a USB stick ready to create a bootable install stick for Windows. You'll also need to buy a new hard drive and install Windows on it once you've swapped the drives. If this seems overwhelming, consider taking it to a repair shop for help.
