What Does This Shutdown Error in Windows 11 Mean?

I encountered an error while shutting down my Windows 11 PC, but it still powered off like normal. I've seen this issue before on an old computer, so I quickly ran some command prompt tests, including DISM Cleanup and RestoreHealth, as well as the system file checker. Thankfully, they didn't find any issues, suggesting it isn't a hardware problem. I then checked the event viewer and found no errors logged during the shutdown, only a message about an AppModel Runtime Error Code 208 related to "Cannot create process for package Microsoft.OfficePushNotification," which doesn't seem to be relevant since I don't use Microsoft Office. Could this error be related to the shutdown issue, or might it be an app that didn't close properly? This only happened once, so should I be concerned? Also, I've scanned for malware and found nothing suspicious, as I've only downloaded trusted utilities like WinRAR and GPU-Z, along with some common apps like Chrome and Discord.

Could it be a minor glitch during shutdown? Sometimes Windows displays an error when an app is taking too long to close, but it usually sorts itself out. That white pop-up you mentioned with the exclamation mark might be the system informing you about a slow app like Steam. If it only happened once, it might not be something to stress over.

The error you saw sounds like a common shutdown issue, especially if the app was trying to close but hadn’t done so fast enough. Steam can be finicky sometimes, so if that's the only app mentioned, it could very well be the culprit. As for the Microsoft Office error, it could just be a lingering notification from a background service! Just keep an eye on it; if it happens again, a deeper investigation might be needed.
