I'm considering upgrading my graphics card to an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT. Based on my current build, will I also need to replace the power supply, processor, motherboard, or anything else? I'm especially concerned about CPU bottlenecks at 1440p and whether my existing 650W power supply is sufficient.

AMD recommends a 750W power supply for the RX 9070 XT, so replacing a 650W unit with a quality 750W or higher model would be the safer choice. That said, a good 650W Titanium-rated supply may run the card at its default power limit, provided the rest of the system is reasonable. Check the exact model, age, and available power connectors before deciding.
A less expensive route would be moving to a mature AM4 setup with a Ryzen 5700X, 5800X, or one of the X3D models, paired with a B550 motherboard. That could cost around $300–$350 depending on local prices and would improve CPU performance, although AM4 has no meaningful future upgrade path and the X3D chips can run warm. Make sure the existing cooler is adequate. Alternatively, keep the current platform and upgrade the monitor so the new GPU is being used at a higher resolution.
You don’t necessarily need a full system upgrade, but the current i7 could limit the card, especially at 1080p or when aiming for very high frame rates. At 1440p, the limitation may be less noticeable, but consistently pushing above roughly 90 FPS could still be difficult in CPU-heavy games. A newer processor platform would get more out of the GPU, though it would also mean replacing the motherboard and possibly the memory.

So the practical upgrade could end up being the graphics card, power supply, processor, and motherboard all at once. I’ll need to decide whether the extra performance is worth that larger rebuild.
