Hey everyone! I currently have an Nvidia RTX 4070 with 8 GB of VRAM. I'm wondering if that's sufficient to run most games at 5K resolution, or should I consider upgrading to a 4080 or 4090 for optimal performance? Thanks in advance!

The RTX 4070 with 8GB VRAM is not ideal for 5K gaming. If you're looking for high framerates, you'll definitely want at least a 4090 or maybe even a 5090. For 60fps, a 5080 or 5070 Ti could suffice, but it really depends on the game.
I've heard that the 5090 struggles at 5K too, so you're probably better off with a 4090 instead.
The performance requirements for 5K aren't dramatically higher than 4K. It really comes down to the specific games and the settings you want to use.
It really depends on what games you’re playing. Some titles might run okay on the 5090 at 4K, but others might struggle, so it's worth considering that.
I had the RTX 4070 with a 5K monitor for about six months. It handled some games decently but struggled with others, forcing me to downscale to 1440p. I eventually upgraded to a 5080, which has been great so far. If budget is not an issue, just go for the 5090 for peace of mind!

Actually, there are some versions of the 4070 with 8GB, so it's not impossible. Just saying it might perform poorly at 5K.
