What GPU should I consider upgrading to for better 1440p gaming?

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my GPU and could use some advice. Here are the specs of my current setup:

- Motherboard: ASUS Prime B560 Plus
- CPU: Intel i5 10400f
- Current GPU: Gigabyte Eagle OC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
- RAM: Adata XPG Gammix D10 16GB DDR4-3200
- Storage: MSI M.2 SSD M371
- PSU: 650w
- Case: Mid tower, but I'm not sure exactly what it is.

I upgraded my monitor recently from 1080p 144Hz to 1440p 165Hz, and while my system runs games well at 1080p, it struggles quite a bit at 1440p, especially with temperatures rising above 80°C. I'm hoping to find a GPU that can maintain around 60fps at 1440p without excessive heat. My budget is currently $300-$400, but I might have an extra $100 in the future. I'm mostly interested in Nvidia options but if AMD has better choices, I'm open to that too. Any recommendations?

I have a similar setup, and I was considering either the 9060 XT or the 5060 Ti. Going higher might not provide much benefit due to potential bottlenecking. However, I've decided to go for an i7 12700KF build with a 5070 soon. For your current GPU upgrade, either of those options should work given your 650w PSU is enough, but it's tricky figuring out wattage requirements.

Yeah, 650w should be fine for both GPUs.

I checked out the PowerColor and ASUS 9060 XT 16GB models; they're around $400 on Amazon right now. That could be a great option if you want something brand new.

A used 5060 Ti could be a decent choice too, so consider that as well!

For a new option, go with the 9060 XT! You won’t need to upgrade your PSU with that choice, so it could be easiest.

If you can stretch your budget by $60-$70, a used 4070 Super could be a solid choice, along with a used 3080 or a new 9060 XT. I found some good options on eBay that I could share links for, just let me know!

Just keep in mind that a 4070 Super might require a PSU upgrade later due to power spikes.
