I'm having trouble with my Windows 11 PC. It was working fine yesterday, but today it shows 'no internet connection - connected to local network only' and then it changes to 'there's a problem with the dns cache' after a bit. I've rebooted both my modem and PC multiple times, tried different ethernet cables that work on other devices, uninstalled my VPN and antivirus, and flushed the DNS and reset network settings using various command prompts. I even set a static DNS server (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), but that just led to 'can't reach DNS server' so I went back to automatic, but still stuck with the same original messages. The last Windows update was on the 17th, and there haven't been any software updates recently.

Glad I could help! It sounds like the modem was the culprit in your case. Sometimes these devices can just give out without much warning. If you run into any further issues, it might be worth checking the modem’s settings or even replacing it if it starts acting up again.
It sounds like you've covered a lot of ground already. Just to confirm, is this a desktop PC or a laptop? Sometimes that can help narrow down potential issues. Also, check if DHCP is enabled on your network settings.
