I've been using my 7-year-old 2070 for gaming, but it's really struggling to keep up, especially with newer games like UE5, Oblivion Remastered, Doom, and Monster Hunter Wilds. I have a solid 2k monitor, but getting only 50 frames is just not cutting it any longer. I'm looking for a new GPU that won't cost me more than $1,000 CAD. I've seen the 7800 XT priced around $650 and the 5070 for about $700. I'm also considering a used 4070 Ti. What do you all think?

Honestly, if you're looking for a budget-friendly option, the 5070 or 9070 are solid choices. Just go with whatever one you can find cheapest! The 9070 XT and the 5070 Ti are great if your budget allows for it, but you probably don’t need to spend that much for what you want to do.
For your situation, keep an eye out for a used 4070 or an 80 SUPER; they perform similarly to the 5070 Ti. Sometimes you can find a great deal on the 9070 XT too—just patience can pay off!
I'd say go for the 5070 to get the best bang for your buck. The 9070 XT is overpriced for what it offers in 1440p gaming—it's really just a marketing gimmick. Don't be fooled by the numbers!
People are worried about the 12GB VRAM on the 9070 for the future, though. But honestly, I think the 5070 will serve your needs just fine.
If you're looking to save money, the 6700 XT is also a fantastic value option, especially used for around $250-$300. I recently tested a 4070, and the performance gap isn't as wide as you'd think for the price.
I've been using a 7800 XT for my 2k gaming, and it performs excellently—usually over 90 FPS on ultra settings! It's definitely worth considering, especially since the 9070 is a bit steep right now.
I might go with the 7800 XT instead. The prices for the 9070 are really high right now.
Same here! The 7800 XT is solid, but it can't handle ray tracing.
I saw a used 4070 SUPER for about $500 CAD, which is practically half of what you'd pay for a new GPU.
