I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my GPU. I've got a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a 650W PSU and currently use a Radeon 5500XT. I'm keen on switching to an Nvidia GPU but I'm unsure about the best options available. Additionally, I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM from 16GB to 32GB (2x8 to 4x8).

If you're just gaming at 1080p, I'd go for the 3060 Ti. It's great value and the 8GB of VRAM shouldn't be an issue at that resolution, especially if you aren’t pushing for ultra settings in the latest AAA titles.

That sounds promising! At 1080p, the VRAM seems like it won’t be a big deal.

You might also consider getting a used 1080 Ti or 2080 Ti. They still hold up well and can give you good performance without breaking the bank.

Honestly, not many Nvidia cards perfectly blend with the Ryzen 5 3600 since most effective options come with 8GB of VRAM, which isn't ideal for this setup. The Radeon 6700XT, with 12GB, is a solid choice. The Nvidia 3060 Ti is comparable, but it has only 8GB. If you plan on pushing beyond that into better CPUs later, cards like the 4070 or 5070 would be better, but that's only if you're upgrading your CPU too!

I’ll definitely consider a CPU upgrade, thanks!

First off, what's your monitor resolution? That'll help narrow things down. If you're on 1080p at 165Hz, you have some good options! I wouldn’t recommend anything too high-end with the 3600 though; it could bottleneck.

I play at 1080p 165Hz but usually lock my games down for smoother Vsync.
