So here's the deal: my Sapphire Radeon RX6800 fried unexpectedly. I'm currently in the RMA process, but I've heard that getting it sorted can be a real headache and can take forever. While I wait, I'm on the lookout for a GPU that offers similar performance without breaking the bank, ideally in the $400-$600 range since I bought the RX6800 for around $500 two years ago. Given that this card let me down so soon, I'm kind of leaning towards Nvidia, but I'm still open to AMD options.

I'm curious about how your RX6800 failed. From what I've seen, AMD doesn't really have a solid competitor in the $500-$600 range right now compared to what's offered by Nvidia, unless you're considering the RX 9070, but that's at the higher end of your budget at $599.
Check out the ASRock Challenger RX 9070! It might fit your needs well. Just a heads up, be sure to double-check your PSU. A lot of fried RX6000 cards are linked to faulty PSUs, especially those from MSI or underpowered setups.
I thought it might be the PSU at first, so I replaced it with a 1000W 'be quiet!' model. When I took it to a local repair shop, they tested everything and confirmed that the issue was definitely the GPU.
