What Graphics Card Do I Need for Smooth Gaming?

I've had a PC built for me a few years ago with decent parts, but my gaming experience isn't great because my graphics seem sluggish. I'm trying to play games like Fallout 4, and the smoothness is not what I'm used to on console. I currently have an AMD Radeon graphics card, running at 1920x1080 at 144 Hz. I believe this should handle most games as long as I lower the settings, but even at the lowest settings, the performance is still poor. Should I upgrade my graphics card, or is there something else I need to check?

It sounds like you're using the Ryzen 5 5600G, which has integrated graphics. This is fine for basic tasks but isn't ideal for modern gaming. You might not even have a dedicated graphics card installed. I suggest checking the details using software like CPU-Z and GPU-Z to get a clearer picture. You'll need to install a proper graphics card to boost your gaming experience.

That's a good point! If you don't have a dedicated card, your options are limited for gaming. Might be wise to shop for one!

Before upgrading, check your current setup with CPU-Z and GPU-Z! It might help to post screenshots somewhere for advice. Don’t worry about asking silly questions; we all start somewhere! Just attach pics through the hosting service or use simple file-sharing links if you're unsure how to include them in threads.

You're right that 1080p is quite manageable, even for older cards. But since the 5600G graphics level is about on par with a GTX 750 Ti, it's likely not powerful enough for smoother gameplay in demanding titles. You could consider getting something like an RTX 2060 Super for budget options or even a GTX 5090 for top-tier performance, depending on your budget.
