What Graphics Card Should I Upgrade My GTX 1080 To?

Hey everyone! I'm new here and I'm French, so I hope my English is okay. A while back, I had a "chill gaming" PC built, but I'm starting to feel like it's not cutting it anymore. For example, I can't run *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth* because my graphics card feels outdated, and while I can play *Cyberpunk 2077*, it doesn't always run smoothly. I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I'm not looking for top-tier performance with 999 FPS or ultra ray tracing—just something that fits my budget better. I'm currently using a GTX 1080, and I want to know what I could replace it with while still keeping most of my components. Also, what kind of price range should I expect for these upgrades? I'd be open to considering used graphics cards if that helps. Here are my specs:

* Gigabyte B550M DS3H5
* AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Wraith Stealth (3.7 GHz / 4.6 GHz)
* G.Skill RipJaws 5 Series Noir 16 Go (2x 8 Go) DDR4 3600 MHz CL18
* Western Digital SSD WD Black SN750 SE 500 Go
* IN WIN 101C Noir
* be quiet! Pure Power 11 700W 80PLUS Gold
* be quiet! Shadow Rock 3

Thanks for any advice!

For a solid upgrade in the next couple of years, you might want to look into the RX 7600 XT which goes for about 320€. If you're willing to spend a little more, the RTX 4060 Ti is also an option, but keep in mind it's not the best value since the 5060 Ti is out now and is cheaper. Just something to think about!

Honestly, I don't think the 4060 Ti is a good choice, especially with the 5060 Ti being out now. And I wouldn't say an upgrade to AM5 is mandatory just yet.

You have a lot of options! The 3070 or 3080 are great choices. You might also want to consider the 6750xt, 7700xt, or the 7800xt if you're feeling adventurous. Just keep an eye on prices since they can vary quite a bit.

You’ll likely need a CPU upgrade as well; the 5700x3d would be a great fit and could last you for another 5 years. I recently upgraded from a 1080ti to a 4070ti Super, and it almost doubled my performance. If you can find the 9070xt at a good price, that could also be a solid option. Expect to pay around 700 USD for it, give or take, depending on availability.

If you're looking for something a bit more budget-friendly, consider a used RTX 3060 12GB; it’s a decent card. Just make sure you're looking specifically for the 12GB version because the other one doesn't compare.

Just to clarify, it's either the 3060 12GB or the 3060ti 8GB, so make sure to choose carefully!

Have you thought about trying the Intel Arc B580? It's got great value and almost matches the 3060ti performance, usually for around 300 USD.

Don't overlook the used market! You could find a used RX 5700xt for a reasonable price, which could really help boost your performance without breaking the bank.
