Hey everyone! I recently got an Acer GX-781 from a family member, but it didn't come with a hard drive. I'm unsure about which type I should buy. Do I need a specific kind, or can I just choose any hard drive as long as it meets certain specs? I know the PC is a bit older and not likely to handle the latest games like Genshin Impact, but I'd love to be able to play something like The Sims on it. Sorry if this is a basic question; I'm a complete beginner! Any advice would be really appreciated! (And apologies if my English isn't perfect; it's not my native language.)

Honestly, I'd recommend getting an SSD instead of a hard drive. Almost any PC from the last 20 years supports 2.5" SATA SSDs. However, if you're considering an M.2 NVMe SSD, check your specs to ensure compatibility since those are generally the newer standard.
You should be good with any SATA drive. A 2.5" SATA SSD would also fit, though they’re not as common as traditional hard drives. Just make sure it’s SATA-compatible!
Thanks for the suggestions! How about this one: a Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB M.2 SSD? It looks similar to the old one.
That one won't work for your PC. You need a SATA M.2 SSD instead. It looks similar, but the interface is different. You can also go for a 2.5" SSD; they're just a different shape. Check out this list for all compatible options!
