I'm a bit confused about which HDMI splitter to use. I want to connect my Nintendo Switch to my Elgato HD60 X capture card, and then link that to my HP laptop, which has a broken screen. I'm currently using an external monitor for my laptop. Can someone clarify if I need a 2 out 1 in splitter or a 2 in 1 out splitter for this setup? Basically, I need to send the capture card's output to my laptop and my monitor. How should I connect everything?

From what you've described, it seems like you don't actually need a splitter. If your Elgato HD60 X is hooked up to the Switch and then to your laptop, and you're using an external monitor for the laptop, you should be fine with direct connections.
Just to clarify, it sounds like you're using the capture card's passthrough feature. If that's the case, you connect the Switch to the capture card, then the capture card to your external monitor. Your laptop will just be processed through the capture card for recording or streaming, so no splitter is necessary unless you want to connect multiple devices to the same monitor or capture card.
Yeah, I agree! It sounds like the setup is pretty straightforward, and adding a splitter would just complicate things. As long as everything is plugged in where it needs to be, you should have everything working properly!
