I'm considering a role that mainly involves sysadmin tasks, including on-call support and server maintenance, but it will also have elements of network engineering as I'll be overseeing server upgrades. While I'm still exploring other job opportunities, I'm about 80% sure this position is stable since I got it through some solid personal connections. The company is willing to be flexible with the job title to fit me. What job titles would you recommend that could enhance my resume and support my career progression in the future? Thanks for your help!

Honestly, as someone who hires, I think the job title isn't as crucial as the skills you bring to the table. Focus on gaining experience and demonstrating your abilities.
You might want to consider titles like Systems Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer. They reflect both sysadmin and networking skills, which can look good on your resume.
How about calling yourself "The Wizard"? It sounds cool, although I’m not sure it’ll land you any serious gigs unless you’re actually casting spells.
Thanks for your insight! Can you elaborate on why you feel that way? Is this a common viewpoint in hiring?
