What Kind of Damage Could Cause an Oily Spot on My Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra?

A friend of mine has a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and noticed something strange. There's an oily-looking spot in the top right corner of the screen, and when they turn it on, it shows a black shape in that same area. Additionally, the screen tends to turn off by itself and needs to be turned back on. Could this be a sign of water damage or something else?

It sounds like your friend's screen might have physical damage, possibly a broken panel. The black area you're seeing could indicate that the liquid crystals are not displaying correctly, perhaps because of misalignment or a crack in the glass.

Thanks for the insight! Do you think it could be worth getting it checked out at a repair shop?

Yeah, definitely! It’s probably better to have a professional look at it to avoid further issues.
