I'm setting up a LAN party at my place for six people including myself, and I'm totally new to this! I'm trying to figure out whether I need a Power over Ethernet (POE) switch or if a standard 8-port switch will do the job. Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks!

A regular 8-port switch should be just fine for your LAN party. POE switches are mostly used to power devices like cameras and WiFi access points, which don't sound like your setup. So stick with the standard one!
Yeah, go with a standard gigabit switch! They’re super cheap these days, around $15. Just make sure you have enough Ethernet cables for everyone and one to connect to your router.
