What Linux Distro Should I Try Next After Mint?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using Linux Mint and I'm looking for a new distribution that feels a bit more advanced but not too overwhelming. Ideally, I'd like something stable and frequently updated, mainly the GUI side. I do a lot of browsing, casual gaming, and I want to get into virtual machines as well. By the way, what do you think about having updates every six months like Fedora? Is that a good idea?

It really depends on what you mean by 'harder.' You can do pretty much everything you need on Mint. If you're looking to dive deeper, you could learn Linux commands and tools without switching distros. Plus, consider using VMs to experiment with other distributions while keeping Mint as your base.

If gaming is your main focus, take a look at Fedora or Nobara, which is Fedora-based but optimized for gaming. Fedora has regular updates, so you won't fall behind on new software.

I suggest trying Debian. It’s stable and has a vast community, which helps with troubleshooting and learning.

If you're transitioning from Mint, you might also consider LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition). It could be a smooth move for you.

If you really want a challenge, you could try Gentoo, but it involves a lot of manual setup. However, if stability is your goal, Debian or openSUSE could be perfect.

You might enjoy Arch-based distros like EndeavourOS. They encourage learning command usage without being too tough to handle. Just get familiar with some basic commands, and you’ll be good to go!
