I've been using Kubuntu since September 2025, and after refining my workflow, it's running smoothly for me—about 80% effective compared to Windows. I'm primarily modding and playing older games, with some of them having native Linux support, which is a relief. I'm comfortable with Debian-based distros because they make life easier with .deb and AppImage packages. I'm wondering if there are any other distributions worth trying that aren't as sandboxed as something like Bazzite. Both Debian-based options or alternatives would be great!

Fedora KDE has been my go-to! There are RPMs available for most software, and Flatpaks work great as well. Could be a solid alternative for you!
If you're looking for something fresh but familiar, why not try different desktop environments with Ubuntu or Debian? Or if you're feeling adventurous, Arch or CachyOS could be interesting! Proxmox also allows you to run any OS in VMs if that's your thing.
Honestly, for a great KDE experience, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed or Fedora are your best options. They’re pretty up to date and stable. Also, Flatpaks are usually better than Snaps or AppImages, but they all have their place.
If you enjoy KDE Plasma, definitely give Fedora and OpenSUSE a shot. They both work really well with KDE and offer a great user experience!
There are plenty of solid distros out there! Most of the popular ones are pretty reliable. Personally, I like the big three: Arch, Debian, and Fedora—just each has its own perks!
