I'm looking for advice on a Linux-friendly laptop that I can use exclusively for online banking. I'm relatively new to Linux, having tested Ubuntu on an old MacBook Pro, but I'm struggling with some of the differences like the keyboard layout and WiFi connectivity. I don't need a powerful machine since it'll only be for financial transactions and I want to keep costs under $1,000. Moreover, I would appreciate any suggestions for specific distributions that are user-friendly for beginners. I've considered using Qubes, but it seems like overkill for my needs as I'll only be using it for banking.

Honestly, I highly recommend checking out a ThinkPad, either the T series or X1. They're very reliable and tend to come ready for Linux right out of the box. Plus, you can find used units on eBay after corporations dispose of them, often at a good price! They’re built to last, and lots of people in the field use them, which speaks volumes about their durability.
You could also consider a Chromebook. They’re super affordable, easy to use, and run a Linux derivative, so you get what you need without too many complications. Perfect for online banking!

I appreciate the input! I've never bought used electronics before, so that's making me a bit nervous. If you have any recommendations for reputable sellers, please share! I'm also going to compare those models.
