What Linux OS Should I Install on My Dad’s Old Computer?

I'm getting my dad's old computer, which has 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive, and I'm looking for suggestions on what Linux operating system to install. I want something that's user-friendly, especially for running Steam, and I'd love to mod the boot screen to have a giant hand ripping the Windows menu in half. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I think Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop is a great choice for you! It's user-friendly, so you'll have an easier time getting familiar with Linux, especially if you’re just starting out. You can always dive into more complex stuff later. Just a heads up, I think you meant a 1 TB hard drive instead of 1 tb memory since you already mentioned having 16 GB of RAM.

Just to note, Mint may not have the best GPU driver support for some graphics cards, so keep that in mind!

If you're up for a challenge, you could start with Arch Linux! It's definitely a steep learning curve, but it's totally rewarding if you want to learn the ins and outs of Linux. Just be prepared for a bit of a rough start!
