What mid-range GPU should I consider for my PC build?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of putting together a PC from parts I've found here and there, and I'm looking for some guidance on which graphics card to buy. I'm not planning to play major AAA titles that require tons of power; I'm more into indie games. Recently, though, I've noticed my machine struggles with playtests for games like Islands of Insight and Pathologic. Sometimes they won't even launch, or the lag is so severe that it's nearly unplayable. I think I really need a GPU that's good enough to handle more titles without breaking the bank. I'm hoping to find something middle-range, nothing too high-end, just a solid card that delivers adequate performance. I've read a lot about "the best" GPUs, but I'm looking for something that would be considered good enough for indie gaming without an overload of numbers. Any advice on what specs I should be looking for and what they mean would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

For AMD options, something like the 6800xt or 7600xt would be a great fit and generally runs under $400. I use a 6600xt myself, which is fine but may limit you with memory issues at higher settings. Just keep an eye on that!

If you want a smooth experience for indie games, used cards like the GTX 1070, 1660ti, or 2060 can be great picks without costing a fortune. They still perform well for most games!

Are you referring to the numbers like 1070 and 2060? What exactly do they mean?

If you're looking for affordable options with decent performance, consider the Intel Arc B series; they can be pretty good for the price. Alternatively, a budget RX AMD card could work well too!
