Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade to a 9800X3D but I don't have much experience with AMD platforms. Right now, I'm using LGA1700 with a 12600K and currently on a 14600KF. I'm looking for recommendations on a solid motherboard that's good for overclocking. Ideally, I'd like it to be ATX with at least 2 NVMe slots and preferably 4 DDR slots. Any suggestions?

Hey! If you're after a top-notch AM5 motherboard, you can't go wrong with the ASUS ROG Strix X870-E Gaming WiFi. It's currently leading the charts for overclocking the 9800X3D. Just a heads up, it comes with a higher price tag, but it’s definitely worth it for solid performance. The X670 and X870 chipsets are your best bets for overclocking, and ATX boards usually have better VRM setups, which is great for power delivery. Plus, they typically have ample slots for your M.2 drives and RAM!
You might want to check out PCPartPicker for a range of options. It’s really handy for comparing specs. Just make sure whichever motherboard you choose has the features you need, like the slots and VRMs that support solid performance. You’ve got plenty of choices depending on your budget!
Yeah, definitely! Looking around will help you find the best fit for what you're after without overspending.
True, but I’m not looking for the absolute best; just something reliable for a mild OC. I'm aiming for around a 0.3-0.4 GHz overclock, not trying to break any records!
