I'm looking to extend the life of my laptop for another year. Here are the specs: it has an Intel i3 5005U processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM (2x4GB), and a 220GB SATA SSD. Which operating system would be the most suitable for my setup?

Honestly, any Linux distribution should work fine for you. Just go with one that you're comfortable using.

Lubuntu or Linux Mint are solid options too! You can't go wrong with either.

I think Linux Mint is a great choice! If the Cinnamon desktop feels a bit heavy, try using the Xfce version instead.

If you're up for it and like tiling window managers, consider using Sway or Niri. If not, KDE with Debian or Kubuntu might be more user-friendly. I’m running Garuda with Sway on my i3 with 8GB RAM and it’s really fast!

You might want to check out MX Linux. The Xfce version should run smoothly on your laptop! 😊
