What Power Supply Should I Get After Upgrading to a 5090?

I've upgraded my GPU from a 5070ti to a 5090, and I'm currently using a 1000W power supply paired with a 9800X3D and another 5060ti for lossless scaling. Given this setup, I'm wondering what high-quality power supplies would be good to handle the load and support the longevity of my system. Is a 1500W PSU necessary for this configuration?

While 1000W is technically sufficient, I'd recommend upgrading to at least a 1300W platinum-rated PSU. It helps with efficiency and reliability, and it's nice to have extra capacity if you decide to make further upgrades later.

If you're running into issues with power demands in gaming, it's worth checking how much wattage you're actually using. For the 5090, you might not need more than 850W; any higher is probably seeing socket readings instead of what the PSU is actually delivering.

A 1000W PSU should still work fine for your setup, but it's always good to have a margin, especially with high-end components. You might want to consider a higher wattage PSU for the best performance and future-proofing.

Honestly, a well-built 1500W PSU is more than enough for a single 5090. You could probably run two 5090s on that wattage if you really wanted to.
