I'm thinking about doing a fresh install of Windows 7 on my PC, mostly out of nostalgia and to see how it performs. The system came with Windows 7 pre-installed, and I'd like to know what programs I should consider installing to ensure everything runs smoothly, without any issues. Are there any specific apps that can help trick other software into thinking it's running on a more modern OS, like Windows 10? I'd really appreciate your suggestions!

If you can, run Windows 7 in a virtual machine. It will help keep things separated and safer without messing up your main system. Just a thought!
I wouldn't recommend installing a ton of programs. Less is more in this case! Stay away from those optimizer or tweak apps; they don't help and can actually slow things down. If you're looking for performance improvements, consider upgrading your hardware instead!
If you're using Windows 7 regularly, make sure you have VxKex set up for better compatibility and a solid antivirus program. That combo will help you keep things running better and more securely.
You might find it hard to run modern applications on Windows 7, as many of them are no longer supported. You can't really fool software designed for a newer OS. If you need to run something, try using containerized programs—they might have a better chance of working. But remember, Windows 7 is considered pretty dated, and it’s best to avoid using it online for security reasons.
Thanks for the heads-up! I plan to keep it offline most of the time.
