I'm considering whether to buy a 1000W or 1200W power supply for my 9800x3d and 5090FE build. Anyone have insights on what would be better?

I’m using a 1000W with the same components, and I haven’t encountered any issues. It works just fine for my setup!

Definitely go for the 1200W, especially since it's a high-end build. You really shouldn't cut corners on the power supply. A platinum-rated unit would be best for efficiency.

If budget isn’t a concern, I recommend going for the 1200W PSU. Better to have some extra power capacity than to risk underpowering your setup!
