I'm currently building a PC and my budget was capped at £2000, which I've just about hit. I've opted for 2x8GB DDR5 RAM sticks due to budget constraints. With the 5070 Ti featuring 16GB of VRAM, I'm wondering if 16GB of RAM is sufficient for playing games at high or ultra settings. In a few months, I plan to upgrade to another 2x8GB sticks, but I'm also concerned if I might need to get 2x16GB instead and completely replace my current RAM. Also, I'm curious if anyone has suggestions for alternative RAM that's more affordable.

Sure, sticking with 2x8GB now is fine! When you're ready to upgrade, you might consider getting 2x16GB sticks instead. That way, you set yourself up for a possible future upgrade to 64GB without hassle. Plus, it’ll give you dual-channel performance!
If you're planning to run many applications while gaming, 32GB would likely serve you better in the long run. Just keep an eye on RAM prices and be prepared to upgrade when it’s more affordable.
For most casual gaming, 16GB is just fine for now. Once prices go down, consider upgrading without stress!
Thanks for the reassurance, really helps after dropping so much money on this build!
Honestly, using 4x8GB sticks should work fine, especially because they will be single rank. Just double-check your motherboard's manual for the optimal slot configuration! However, keep in mind that upgrading with 32GB sticks might pose some complexity.
Never knew about single rank RAM issues! Thanks for the tip!
For now, 16GB is quite standard for gaming and should get you through most titles without crashing even on high settings. You can definitely manage for a bit, unless you’re into super demanding games.

Thanks for the insight! I see how that could save me headaches later.
