What RAM Should I Upgrade to Fix My Performance Issues?

Hey everyone! I've got an older computer that's been giving me a lot of trouble lately, especially with memory performance. I think it might be time to upgrade the RAM, but I'm not sure which kind would be compatible with my setup. Here are my current specs:

- Intel i7 8700K
- MSI GTX 1070 TI
- Asus PRIME Z370-A II
- G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB DDR4 3200MHz

Just to give you a bit more context, I left my computer dormant for a few months, and when I got back, it was surprisingly sluggish. Booting up takes forever, Chrome is slow, and I experience annoying stutters while gaming. Task Manager often shows my memory usage hovering between 80-90% when I'm multitasking. I'd like to start with a RAM upgrade instead of going for an entirely new build right now, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your RAM looks decent! Unless it's faulty, it might not be the main issue. I'd check if your CPU is getting older. Also, do you have an SSD, or are you using an HDD? Switching to an SSD can significantly improve loading times.

I actually have both! SSD for games and programs, and a HDD for everything else.

Have you checked your CPU temperatures? Sometimes the thermal paste can dry out, leading to overheating, which might cause performance dips. Just a thought, I've encountered similar issues before.

Honestly, unless your RAM is acting up or you need more of it, changing it might not solve your performance woes. Have you checked other possible causes?

Not really sure what else could be causing such issues. I'd love to get a whole new build eventually, but I'm not able to spend that much cash right now.
