Hey everyone! I'm having some serious issues with my HP Omen 15. All the ports are non-functional except for one USB-C port, and I'm not too savvy with hardware repairs. I've heard that using magnetic USB-C cables could potentially harm my laptop or its USB-C port. Is that true?
Here's my dilemma:
1. Should I buy a USB-C magsafe cable and risk damaging my laptop further?
2. Should I take my laptop to a support center, which would cost me €50 just to diagnose the problem, but I might end up needing a motherboard replacement costing over €800 on top of that?
I'm really unsure about the best route to take. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Consider finding a reliable PC repair shop nearby to get their expert opinion. Yeah, they might charge for the inspection, but it's often cheaper in the long run than taking it directly to the support center. Just be prepared for any fees—they need to cover their work time!
First off, could you clarify if all types of ports are down (like audio, network, display, USB, etc.)? If everything is down, it might indicate severe damage to the motherboard. You might be able to work with just the single functional USB-C using a hub for more connections, though!
Also, try turning off the power, holding the power button for 30 seconds, then turning it back on. Sometimes that can reset things if they're stuck in a protection mode. Also, test the ports at boot with a USB drive to check if they're recognized in BIOS. If so, it could just be a Windows driver issue!
I once had a similar issue with my cooling pads. The first USB port died, and when the second one followed, I figured it was the pad's fault. But really, it was just old ports wearing out. I’ve been there, so I totally relate!

I checked the HP website and found a couple of local shops. I guess some inspection fees are expected!
