What should I do after getting hand sanitizer in my laptop?

I accidentally spilled hand sanitizer on my laptop while trying to clean it. Now, it keeps ghost typing and even when I let it dry out, it won't turn on at all. There's no noise or lights when I plug it in, and I'm really worried about how to fix it since I'm a high school student without a job. I would appreciate any help or advice on what steps I can take to remedy this situation!

Set your laptop in a warm, dry place with the battery and any removable components taken out. Give it about 48 hours. It might still work once it's completely dry. But ideally, turning it off and removing the battery quickly can prevent more damage.

Honestly, the key takeaway is to never use hand sanitizer on your laptop again. A little common sense goes a long way!

If you're really concerned, it might be a good idea to take it to a repair shop where they can open it up and take a proper look at it.

Unplug your laptop and remove the battery right away. Since hand sanitizer is mostly alcohol, it should evaporate. Clean up any excess and let it air dry for a day or two before trying to power it on again.

Just remember that the glycerin will stay and could create problems later. It’s not just the alcohol you need to think about.

Don't stress too much! Just think of it as your laptop installing a really strong antivirus. Seriously, though, try to give it some time to dry out completely before worrying too much.

The only issue is the glycerin in hand sanitizer. That won't evaporate and can cause stickiness, so you might need a deeper clean.
