I was using my gaming laptop for homework when suddenly my AC adapter sparked brightly and started smoking! Now, the laptop isn't charging, and I'm worried that the damage might have affected my laptop as well. Is there any chance I can get the adapter repaired, and how do I know if my laptop is safe to use?

Your AC adapter is completely shot, you'll need to replace it. And while there's a possibility that the laptop got damaged in the process, it might still be okay. Just get a new charger and test it out.

It's a clear sign your charger needs replacing. There's a decent chance that it could have fried your laptop too, but you won't know for sure until you try with a new adapter. Just make sure to get a good quality one and avoid the super cheap options—it'll save you from future headaches.

You should definitely not plug that AC adapter back in. It's fried! Just recycle it and buy a new charger. There's a chance your laptop is still fine, but you'll only know for sure once you connect it to a working adapter.
