I recently had a scary moment with my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 when it unexpectedly shut down while unplugged. At first, pressing the power button didn't do anything, and the charger light wouldn't turn on either. I figured it needed to go to the service center. However, after a short while, my brother managed to turn it back on, and it was at 50% battery. It's a 3-year-old laptop that I recently upgraded to 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD after the old HDD failed. Any advice would be really appreciated!

It sounds like your battery might be swollen and needs replacing. That's something you should take seriously!
You really need to check that swollen battery; it can be a fire hazard! If you can't replace it right now, at least disconnect it and be sure to dispose of it safely. In the meantime, your laptop will work fine plugged in without the battery.
Good to know! The tech didn't make it sound urgent, but I'll take care of it. How do I safely remove the battery once I disconnect it?
Check the Windows Event Viewer under System logs! It might tell you why it shut off. Also, was the battery low when it powered down?
Thanks for the tip! I updated the link to my laptop's photo. Do you think it's possibly a hardware issue? If so, should I avoid turning it on? My battery isn't great anymore, but I think it was around 40% when it shut off.
Got it! The tech said it could run for a while, but should I replace it right away? Even when I connected the charger, it didn’t turn on for a bit, so I wonder if there might be more issues.
