I accidentally spilled sweetened tea on my dad's Chromebook two days ago. At first, it seemed okay, but later that night it started flashing black and shutting off. The next day, it continued flashing until it stopped turning on completely, although I noticed it would flash red while charging and sometimes show a yellow light when I pressed the reset and power buttons. Now, it's completely unresponsive with no lights at all. I feel terrible about this situation because it belongs to my dad. I would like to repair or replace it, but I'm hoping to find a more affordable repair option since I need it for school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, electronics and liquids don’t mix well. It’s likely that your Chromebook is done for. Best bet is to start looking for a new one and keep drinks far away from your gadgets from now on! They really should teach that in school!
If you can access the hard drive, you might be able to salvage some data by connecting it to another computer, or you could try removing it to retrieve your files. Just a thought!
Have you tried drying it out? Sometimes moisture can linger for a while. Just keep in mind, if you need the laptop soon, waiting to dry it could take too long. But it's worth a shot if you haven't already!
Honestly, Chromebooks are often seen as disposable. You might not find a repair cheaper than getting a new one. The best way to handle it is to talk to your dad about what happened and tell him you'd be willing to pay him back through chores or some side jobs. It's a good chance to show responsibility!

I'm afraid it's probably too late for that. Since the power was on when you spilled, it likely shorted out already, plus the sugary tea could leave some serious residue.
