What should I do if a screw popped out of my laptop?

I have an ASUS Strix 2024, and while watching YouTube, I noticed a strange noise coming from it. Later, I found a screw that looked like it belonged to my laptop along with an empty screw hole. After screwing it back in, I discovered that the screw had somehow ended up inside the fan and was expelled through the vent. Should I take the laptop apart to check for any damage or is it safe to leave it as is?

It's possible that when you reassembled your laptop a few months ago, you didn't tighten the screw properly. Those screws can come loose over time, especially if they’ve been removed and put back. If this screw came from the bottom cover, it's usually not a big deal, but if it got inside the device, it’s better to open it up and check. Tiny screws can sometimes roll into places they shouldn’t, but they’re usually harmless if it’s just a loose one from the exterior. Better to be safe than sorry!

Definitely check it out! If it really came from the bottom cover, it may not have caused much trouble, but I’d want to be sure it’s not lodged in the fan or something! It’s quick to open up and take a look.
