What Should I Prioritize for Upgrading My Wife’s Gaming PC?

I'm looking to upgrade my wife's gaming PC, which I initially built in 2019. Currently, I'm considering whether to add more RAM or focus on upgrading the CPU or GPU. She mainly plays games like Marvel Rivals, Path of Exile, and occasionally delves into RPGs like Oblivion and Baldur's Gate 3. We're hoping to play Borderlands 4 together soon, but I'm unsure if her current setup can handle it. I'd appreciate any recommendations on what to prioritize for an upgrade and any specific parts that would be ideal!

To make the most of the upgrade, keep an eye on how the GPU behaves while gaming. If you're maxing out the GPU usage, that's where you should start. Otherwise, consider upgrading the CPU first!

Is there good software for tracking GPU usage that can provide a report? I’d love to let it run without watching the screen the whole time!

When I had a 1660 Ti with my Ryzen 3600X, I only saw GPU usage at around 70-80%. So, I'd definitely suggest upgrading the CPU first. Just keep in mind whether to stick with AM4 or move to AM5 now.

It's a tricky situation! The motherboard can handle a fast CPU like the R7-5700X3D, but finding one could be a challenge. The GPU, however, might be the biggest bottleneck for playing Borderlands 4. It’s recommended to get a better GPU to hit at least 30 FPS, even on lower settings. I think upgrading the GPU should be your first step!
