What should I try next for fixing audio issues on my ASUS laptop?

I'm dealing with a frustrating audio issue on an ASUS X555LA laptop where the internal speakers just aren't working despite Windows recognizing them fine. I can adjust the volume and the built-in audio troubleshooter doesn't find any problems. External speakers via USB and 3.5mm jack work perfectly fine, so the hardware must be functional. I've already tried a bunch of solutions, including booting in Safe Mode, messing around with drivers in Device Manager, checking BIOS settings, and even looking into audio enhancements. Has anyone else faced this issue before? What did you do to resolve it?

Honestly, sometimes devices just malfunction. If you can't get it to work after all those steps, it might be worth considering that something just broke.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a hardware issue since external speakers work fine. You could check ASUS's support page for any specific troubleshooting steps or updates. It’s possible that the internal speaker switch is stuck, especially if the 3.5mm jack was previously used. Just a thought!

Yeah, if the internal speakers are unresponsive, opening it up to check for loose connections could help. Sometimes it's just a simple hardware fix!

Have you tried toggling the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" option in the Playback settings? Sometimes, this can cause weird issues with sound not coming through the internal speakers.
